Coalition for Smarter Buildings (C4SB) & Monday Live!
February 24, 2022 4:30-6:00 PM CST
The Coalition for Smarter Buildings (C4SB) is a recently formed organization of building technology thought leaders advocating for the broad deployment of smarter buildings.
Monday Live! is a weekly webinar hosted by an open ecosystem of contributors exchanging information, ideas, approaches, and best practices that help buildings advance to be smarter and enhance their value.
In this session, members of C4SB and Monday Live! will provide an overview of their work to date and plans for 2022 and beyond. Specifically, the panel will present the following:
-
The Smarter Stack: an open-source communication tool that models the products, technologies, and companies working to deliver smarter buildings at scale.
-
Div 2525 Specification: an open-source and comprehensive Division 25 specification for building projects of all sizes and types. The panel will present a draft version of this work for comments.
-
A vision of a System-of-System approach for the future of interoperable smart building systems.
-
A new approach for how smarter building technologies can be procured by building owners, focusing on benefits during operation rather than just first-cost.
-
A comprehensive plan to develop skills necessary for the growing workforce required for the deployment of smarter building technologies at scale.
This is a not-to-be-missed session for professionals wanting to grow their smart building business, owners who want to specify and procure future-proof smart technology, and vendors wanting to deliver the right products to tap into the massive market being created.

Anno Scholten
CEO & Founder, E2C Technologies
Anno has developed leading-edge, smart grid energy products for the commercial building markets that have included Constellation New Energy where he helped lead the design of Constellation’s pioneering automated demand response system, VirtuWatt Energy Manager. Before Constellation, Anno was the CTO for Novus Edge, where he developed a first generation of automatic demand response technology and integrated energy technologies for large commercial buildings.
As VP of Engineering for CSI (now Schneider Electric), a leading building controls company, Anno led a 60 person global engineering team through multiple major releases of the CSI product line. He joined CSI when they acquired EMS Control Systems, an Australian company where Anno had built one of the first control systems to fully integrate multiple building systems using the latest distributed architecture technologies, deploying systems across the Asia Pacific region.
During the last decade, Anno has been a major contributor and leader in a number of critical standards efforts that have transformed building automation systems including BACnet, LON, and OBIX. He is a widely recognized industry expert and sought-after speaker at building automation and smart grid conferences and holds US Patents on Distributed-Architecture Building Controller, Automated Load Control and Dispatch System, System for Improved Energy Utilization of a Large Building or Facility.
Anto Budiardjo
Founder and CEO, Padi.io
Anto is a veteran in the connected building space. Since 1989, he has led the development and promotion of building connectivity and integration technologies. His first product, the CdC Engine, first installed in 1991, was deployed widely in the UK and Europe through integrators and OEMs. The “Engine” was the first PC-based integration platform and graphical UI for buildings. Today, Anto is focused on a new venture to bring system integration into the Internet era with an online integration and collaboration platform Padi.io. Core to the current work is the advocacy of CNS/CP (Connection Profiles), an integration mechanism created by Padi, and now being adopted as an open mechanism by Digital Twin communities including the Digital Twin Consortium, as a key integration tool.
Rick Justis
Managing Director and Founder of Coalition for Smarter Buildings
Rick has spent the last several decades working with companies and organizations that have the potential to transform the built environment and drive broader adoption of technologies that can deliver positive change. The variety of experience gained while working for companies like Apple, Dell, Johnson Controls, Honeywell and a long list of Start-Up’s in the Prop-Tech market has given him the ability to be relatively comfortable with conversations from board rooms to boiler rooms and he knows his way around Silicon Valley and Washington DC almost as well as his adopted home town of Kansas City, Missouri. In 2020 Rick began working on strategic projects with 75F.io and is happy to have them be one of the Founding Members of C4SB.
Jim Lee
Founder & CEO, Cimetrics, Inc.
Mr. Lee is the founder of Cimetrics and has acted as its CEO since its formation. Mr. Lee has been a leader in the embedded control networking and building automation community for over 20 years. As founder and former President of the BACnet Manufacturers Association, the leading open systems networking consortium in the building automation industry, Mr. Lee’s aggressive promotion of the BACnet open protocol standard has helped make Cimetrics a high-profile player in the arena. Mr. Lee has a B.A. in Physics from Cornell University.
